Re: Gm's new e-rod engine
I guess the link worked.
I'd agree that it's a great deal. If you know your parts guy at the dealership, you should be able to get it for less than 8k. Can I order that with the manual trans ecm option and bolt it in behind my 700r? Anybody know? |

Re: Gm's new e-rod engine
I talked to the GM Performance Rep at a show and he told me that the computer system doesn't control the trans. I guess the 700 would work just fine.
Summit has the engine listed for $8360

Re: Gm's new e-rod engine
I saw a show that was featuring the E Rod motor. I think its a complete package with the harness and comes CARB compliant so you can regeister the vehilce in CA and pass emissions. Its available for manual and auto trans

Re: Gm's new e-rod engine
This engine is a great package for Kit Car builders because here in CA you can either try to get one of the 500 SB100 registrations allowed a year or you can register your car with one of these engines with out worrying about the SB100 hassles. I know of a Superformance Cobra that is getting 30 mpg with the engine. 450 hp in a 2500lb car with 30 mpg on the highway is nothing to complain about. Plus the added benefit of no tuning required.

Re: Gm's new e-rod engine
For the newer engines, the new 6 speed auto transmission is controlled by a seperate "TCM" (transmission control module). The 6 speed autos have a very complex programming that require this (and lots of things to mess with if you have HPtuner )
