Re: thos who dont want to sell..
Haven't told anybody a price. It'd cost around $22K for mine. it's not worth that but that's what it would cost me to get another truck I liked about as good.

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
I have always put a price on mine that I can live with if it sells .If you dont want to sell it , just say "its not for sale" . If I ask about a vehicle and the owner tells me some outrageous price I just walk away with a lesser opinion of the owner .If you are putting a price on it then you are willing to sell . I tell you , if someone made me a real offer of 11K, they might just own a new truck . I have never been shy about selling one .

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
Well I don't have an exact number I would part with mine for, not yet anyway. I have $14,000 in recipts for parts, then there are other reciepts for small stuff I don't have, like fiberglass, nuts and bolts ect. and a reciept from the paint guy I never got for $1500. I didn't include any labor for myself, what's 2 years of work worth? Now add in the sentimental stuff. Iv'e owned her since 88, driven her over 300,000 of her 470,000 miles. Both my mom and dad, now with God, have riden in her. Never in all this time has she left me on the side of the road or said "no" to a task at hand, what's that worth? jim

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
told a guy 7k. Figure where ya gonna find a fully option silverado thats rust free in the 81-86 years? (excluding 87 because its efi) Only things i wish this truck had was 4x4 and a bigger engine, but that can be added later on.
Its not what its worth, its how much it would cost to replace it, and how much its worth to you. If you dont have a need to sell, then make it worth your while.

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
i usually say "its not for sale, after all the time i have put into it and im finally getting it to how i want it, i want to enjoy it". I get offers at the shop all day but i would have to get some crazy guy to come up to me and throw just stupid money at me for it.

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
I had a guy knock on my door a few weeks ago about my truck. I pretty much told him I wasn't interested in selling it, and that even if I was my asking price would be way higher than what it was worth. He persisted, so I told him to think of the max amount he'd be willing to pay, then double it, and it might persuade me to sell.

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
I told a guy last night $8,000 and he took it! Now I need to find another truck to do a LS swap on.
Just Kidding. Unless my wife or child get sick and I have to have the loot, it's not for sale.

The people who knock on my door are usually completely oblivious as to how much money my car is worth or think I don't know how much it is worth and are trying to get the deal of a lifetime. NADA puts average retail at over $29k and high retail at over $58k. My car is somewhere between the two conditions so it is worth probably $40-45k. Usual offers are $5k to $10k. Not even enough to buy damage & rust free shell let alone a real SS car with matching numbers drivetrain. I politely send them on their way saying it is not for sale.

Re: thos who dont want to sell..
I only get offers at the dump when I use the lift box - from others who are shoveling out their box by hand. Due to rough exterior appearance, others at the dump just say: "You oughta just leave that heap here and walk home."

I hear you there. My 4-year old daughter loves the brown truck (78 K20). She would be heart broken if I sold it.
