Grin factor = 10!!
I just finished putting in a lunati voodoo 60103 cam and a set of summit racing heads into my 350, and also a 2500 redneck performace stall and I must say it is SWEET! Money well spent. I'll get pictures of it soon and some video too. I've never had a performance motor before and it is a lot of fun. I think the stall is going to take some getting used to but it is neat. I want to thank everyone for the help on deciding what all to buy and all the help you don't even know about from me reading through old threads. I became a supporting member today.
Oh and I did all the work myself. About 10 years ago (when i was 16) me and a buddy and his dad used to work on our old trucks/cars and i helped em build 1 motor. For the most part I was the bolt remover and small hands in tight spaces person, but I did learn enough to complete this job. It took me 1 week to get it all done. I'm glad I ended up pulling the motor as my oil pump was FULL of rubber gasket from the oil pan. I honestly don't know how it didn't lock up a long time ago. My oil pressure is much better now. my 2 week old helping me loosen torque converter bolts. (yes I work shoeless lol I'm sure I'll pay for it someday and learn better I just hate shoes.)
all of this blue rubber came from my oil pump. Notice the cig butt for size reference. all of this was in my oil pan. Yes they dropped in the rubber for the timing chain cover and just replaced it with a different one. motor after taking it out. 2 bolt main. found out it's a 94+ ZZ4 crate motor that came with a roller cam originally. It had been rebuilt and bored .030 with a regular hydraulic cam/lifters before I got it. looking better going back in. hope these turn out okay they were all taken on an iphone. My previous heads were 14102193. Apparently it's one of the worst heads ever made as far as performance goes. I think it came off like a 94 model 350 which produced a whole 195 HP from the factory. I was reading about these heads and someone said you can spend $700 machining them and they still aren't worth $.25 lol. |

Awesome job. You do nice work. The reason it seems to rev faster when you stomp on the loud pedal is because of flash stall. Usually will hit 500 to 1000 RPM above your rated stall speed.
For a real kick ride in a car with a 4500 RPM stall. It'll plant you real hard in the seat. Bin there Done that. LOL!!! |

I had about 1/2 an inch from the harmonic balancer to the radiator support and about 1 inch from hood to heads. Pretty close. I knew it would fit though because we did it on my 70 GMC that i had in High school just gotta make the chain as short as possible on the cherry picker.

I got the goods. Click for video. I thought I was in 1st but I just left it in drive so naturally when I shift it hits Neutral and that is the end of the burnout lol. if the video is really choppy the first time just hit replay and it smooths out.

only problem I have right now is that right when I gas on it it goes thump and falls on its face then it takes off and does really good. I still need to tune my carb for my new holley blue pump and take a better look at timing as I still haven't hooked a light up to it yet.

sounds great try playing with timing as far as timed vac advance versus manifold ported vac advance that can make a big diff also it may require a bigger shot of fuel maybe a bigger accelerator pump or cam all of this is easy cheap it just takes patience, I like your carb choice just curious what your vac reading is at idle?

Man you made my day with the pick of you baby in the seat while you were under the truck!!!!! My son is 2 1/2 and is always laying on the floor looking under the old '69 1 Ton. Keep them with ya, we have to have someone to hand them down too....
