1981 K5 Blazer questions
First just for starters, I bought this truck from my friend for REAL CHEAP.
It used to be an Air Force Recruiter truck and it origianlly had a 250 six(4.1 liter) with the sm465. The axles are 3:73s and I was wondering if this a normal axle ratio because it says G-84 High Altitude on the side rear of this truck. It has no A/C and is really just a plain jane except for the nice axle ratios. The first 5 digits of the VIN are 1G8EK. I can't find ant reference to the 8 on the code, any ideas?? I will be putting one of my 350s in it because the 6 cyl. is long gone. I think this wil be a fun project. |

Re: 1981 K5 Blazer questions
LMC catalog says
1G8 = Chevrolet MPV 1981-86 E = [GVW Range & Brake system] 6001-7000 Hydraulic K = 4 wheel drive 1981-86 It just seems a part of the Division/Make code. [example] 1G8= chevy mpv 81-86 1GN= chevy mpv 87-91 1GC= chevy truck 81-91 1G5= GMC MPV 81-86 1GK= GMC MPV 87-91 1GT= GMC Truck 81-91 Does that help any?
