Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

I would be guessing a little higher than that with it being a wide bed and all. Post some pics so we can give a better guesstimate.

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

he never said it was a fleet side.
Prices, esp on beaters or non running trucks, are very much localized. Something that'll sell for $2500 here, would be worth its weight in scrap in the south western parts.
If you bid too low and insult the seller, they may not sell to you no matter the price.
Around here, 500 bucks won't get you anything 67 - 72

I guess it was a mid western thing then. LOL. Kind of like out here in NM when I ordered a bowl of chili and they brought me out this small bowl of green stuff. I looked at the waitress and asked where the meat and beans were, and why they heck was it green. She looked at me like I rode the short bus to the restaurant........

I once ordered breakfast at a typical Greek diner in New York in the late 80's and when the waitress got to asking me what kind of toast I wanted I responded, "Sourdough". She looked at me like I'd ordered dog poop. She said, "Sour whaaaa? That sounds AWFUL." She'd never heard of it.

What is he asking for the truck? It always helps to have a baseline and go from there.

As stated, prices are very much localized.

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

Longhorn wasn't kidding on the price differnce between the states. a while back I picked up a nice rust free 69 shortie with a bad clutch and a utility box on the backfor 300 dollars, scrapped the utility box and then found a short wide bed that some one was using as a trailer and bought it for 50 bucks. Now I should have a running truck for maybe 400 total, back home in IL I would have had to pay 3-4 grand and have been happy to have gotten a rust free truck for that much....

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

A good offer is when both parties are pleased. If you think 500 is good, then start there and see if the owner is happy with it. A rust free cab is worth that alone, but being non-running adds not much more to the value.

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

points to ponder :

- never price another man's stuff

- dinner is served at noon

- supper is served at 5:00 or later in the evening

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

one more point to ponder:

never live anywhere that doesn't serve sweet tea. chances are it's too yankee, too liberal or both...

Re: 70 SWB whats it worth?

I just bought a 71 long box. Running 350, 350 tranny, needed tie rods, battery etc. Has some rust but not to bad, interior a little ragged....for 700.00..The rust is mostly around the rear wheel well but the front end is real nice.
