Need help lifting 2wd C20 a little
If it was a 1/2 ton and short bed, I'd slam this thing with a static drop within an inch of its life. But its not, its a solid work truck. I already have a show truck, I need a rugged truck. I kinda wish it was 4x4, but I can always swap frames one day. For now, it is what it is.
In this pic the motor is out, and the hood is off, so the front end sits high and nice. With the motor in and hood on, it sags in the front. In the rear it has a huge amount of leaf springs cause it is a camper special, in the front it has coils. Here is my truck. ![]() I have two questions. 1. How do I go about lifting the front of this truck an inch or a few? I'd like it to sit like the one below..... ![]() 2. In the same picture above, I love those newer HD wheels he has on there. Are those a direct fit? Meaning is the 8 lug pattern the same. I'd love to swap to those.....Thanks everyone in advance! |

Re: Need help lifting 2wd C20 a little
you could put 1 ton big block springs in the front, then after that you can use a coil spacer, or you can switch over to the 88-98 half ton control arms and use a spindle lift.

Thanks for the quick reply.
1. Could I just use a coil spacer on my stock coils? How much lift would that net me roundabout? 2. Any idea how much taller a 1 ton coil is compared to a 3/4 ton? |

the coil itself isnt taller it just has a higher spring rate. When i put new coils in mine i was offered just regular springs or severe duty, get the severe ones with a coil spacer, but you might run into ball joint issues.

Re: Need help lifting 2wd C20 a little
Did the same thing on my 1/2 ton, I just wanted a better "level" look but did not want to really drop it. We replaced the front coils with new Heavy Duty ones and it brought my front end up over and inch, with no spacers. Between the old coils being worn a little, and not as stout, and the new ones being much thicker, it did the trick. Now my 1/2 ton looks like a 4 wheel drive even though it isn't.

yes they are a direct bolt on rim the only thing is you have to get special lug nuts that have threads on the outside of them due to the fact that the canter caps are held on by nuts that thread to the lug nuts

Re: Need help lifting 2wd C20 a little
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When I lifted mine I switched to 1 Ton Front coils, MOOG PN#6454 And used a 1.5" lift block kit for the rear. My truck originally had the HD rear Springs and LD front springs... If you have LD rear springs, you'll probably need a 2" lift block. Just hunt up a 1.5" lift kit for a 4x4. Mine came from Rocky Mountain suspension. For Reference, There's 3 springs available: The LD 3/4 ton spring, which is the HD 1/2 ton coil. The HD 3/4 spring which is also the 1-ton LD spring, and there's a HD 1 ton spring. The MOOG 6454 is the 3/4 ton HD and 1 ton LD spring. Got about 1.5" lift from it. |

Re: Need help lifting 2wd C20 a little
i like my 2wd trucks to sit nice and high too so i wind up putting in the MOOG Cargo Coils for the front springs and then i put in the Napa Heavy Duty shocks ...then i go to a spring shop and have the seven leaf springs re arced and add a leaf. That leaves the truck sitting like a 4X4 and it can haul anything

My stock C30 454 doesn't sit any higher then any other 3\4ton 2wd I have seen. Here is a link to some pictures.
