New Truck 53 4x4 v8
Just got my second 53 pickup, this ones body is in much better condition then my last so i'm putting the 2 together to make 1. The new one i bought for 400$ is a 53 1/2ton mounted on a 64 chevy frame and running gear runs and drives great, 283 V8, 4spd manual and best of all 4x4. I heard a joke that a guy should have just as many cylinders as his age, so with my 1953 6 cylinder,my daily driver a 6 cylinder dodge dakota, and now my newest 53 V8,that puts me right on the mark haha, i have a question the 1953 on the 64 running gear didnt come with a speedometer or will my other 53 speedometer and cable match up with the 4speed manual,or do i need to buy a 64 cable? also if i bought an aftermarket Tachometer were does that hook up too? Ive got pictures of both trucks at this site, http://s1045.photobucket.com/home/mage0095

The 53 cable has the same end fittings as the 64, but it may not be long enough to reach the transfer case. It won't cost you anything to find out.
The tach connects to 12V power, ground, and the (-) terminal on the coil. If it has a separate lead for the light, that one goes to the dash light circuit. This is if you have a stock distributor. If you have aftermarket ignition, follow the maker's instructions. Ray Last edited by raycow; 08-05-2010 at 03:55 AM. |
