gas sender
I'm replaceing the tank sending unit in the 65, I think I have 1/4 to 1/2 tank of gas. Question is how much gas (if any) will flow out of the line from the engine to tank and sending unit when I disconnect it ? Thanks.

Re: gas sender
If you have only a quarter tank no gas should come out, not sure about the half way point thou, you should also use a long ground strap and keep it grounded while you are removing the sending unit out as not to generate any static electricity....same with install..

Re: gas sender
If you have the in cab gas tank I don't think any will come out.
When I removed the sending unit from my truck the only gas that I got in my cab was what dripped off the float. I think it's because the connector for the fuel pick-up on the sending unit is on the top of the tank; fuel can't siphon out if the end of the pipe is above the level of the fuel in the tank. |

Re: gas sender
Be sure to keep your windows open. Just b/c no liquid gas gets in your cab doesn't mean its safe. Fumes will still be escaping from the sender hole.

Re: gas sender
changing the sending unit in the cab is pretty easy. As said above "only gas that I got in my cab was what dripped off the float"
Last time I changed mine was on my lunch our at work. took about 10-15 mins. I kept my doors open. Might be a good idea to disconnect your battery. just a thought. I dont believe I disconnected mine when i did it though.
