Re: water temp sending unit?

The old sender is the wrong size for the vortec head it is too big so here are some options.

Keep in mind the new sender may not produce a correct reading with the stock gauge. You'll need to verify normal operating temp with an IR gun compared to you gauge reading. I went the vortec route with a 3/8 sender in the manifold and the stock gauge is way off. I ended up installing a set of gauges under the hood so I could monitor engine conditions.

Re: water temp sending unit?

OK, after reading all of the comments ... does anyone have a part number for a temperature sending unit that will work (without funky machining/tapping) for:

1. 67-72 C10 350 V-8
2. Intake manifold mount (such as for a GM Vortech intake, Edelbrock intake, etc.)
3. Normal temp gauge (not idiot light type)

Intake manifold mount is no problem. Every intake I have seen had at least one 1/2" NPT port. The stock sender will screw into that. You only run into trouble when you try to put a sender into the head.
