Power brake booster compatibility?????
I pulled a power brake booster off a 70-72(didnt check the year) Gmc pickup and was wondering would that work for my 69 chevy? The power brake boosters look different and i just want to make sure itll work before messing with it.
Thanks |

Re: Power brake booster compatibility?????
I know there are two styles/brands of booster,I don't remember all of the differences but IIRC the booster and MC have to match each other and the brackets have to match the booster. There should be a guide in the FAQ's or maybe do a search and find threads on Boosters.

Re: Power brake booster compatibility?????
There are single-diaphragm like this:
And two brands Bendix and Delco, not sure on the identification/compatibility if it is the booster or the MC that is critical. And dual-diaphragm like this: Not sure of multiple manufacturers of these. Hope this helps.

Re: Power brake booster compatibility?????
Either one will fit. If I remember right, the dual one was on heavier trucks, gave more assistance. I don't know what the difference is between the Bendix and the Delco is, it might only come down to rebuilding the MC. Getting the right kit that is.

Re: Power brake booster compatibility?????
Which one is better? Or is that more opinion?
Todd We were out grabbing the rally rims and the rear end off a 71 c10 to convert the truck to 5 lug and saw it there and thought what the heck we already have all the stuff here why not grab it lol wasnt really planning on having power brakes but the thing was free so why not. Im planning on doing most of this stuff next year, right now im just getting all the parts i want or can find but will definitally will use all the help i can get next summer specially with putting in the new clutch. Hey do you need a gmc grill an lights from a early 70s truck like the one in your picture? Theres one out there thats in good shape from what i saw, theres one little rip under the passenger light but looks to be covered up by the bumper pretty much. |

Re: Power brake booster compatibility?????
The dual diaphram booster from a 20-30 series will give you better all around power assist. You will love it over the 10 series-single.............make sure you get the brace that bolts to the front of the booster at the M/C, it is longer on the 20-30 series booster to allow for the thickness of the booster!
