Turbo 350 tranny question

I got a question for the transmission guys. I got a 383 stroker backed by a 'built' 350 turbo tranny. I bought this 'as is' so I dont know what has been done to it. The problem I got is that it seems to shift fine, but its squirting tranny fluid out of the kickdown cable onto the intake manifold. It does it every time it shifts. I have only been able to take it up the road for a 1/4 mile or so. Im afriad of something catching on fire until I can find out what is causing it. I hope I don't have to pull the tranny. I can here bubbling like after I shut it off out of the kickdown cable. It does have a tranny cooler and the fluid level seems to be right where it should. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Re: Turbo 350 tranny question

There's a tube on th350s if you burn one up like I did and overfill the thing on accident then fluid comes out the top of the tranny.. Should be a (mines metal)tube coming up out of the right hand side of the tranny almost on top check to make sure it is clear of mud or possibly dirt dobber material if the truck was sitting for a while.

Re: Turbo 350 tranny question

I have a 350 on the ground and one in my GMC and the only tubes on the passenger side is the fill tube and the vaccum line for the modulator...Would love to see a reference pic.

I will look into some more troubleshooting stuff i have to see what could be causing the over pressure situation.

Re: Turbo 350 tranny question

Right where the kickdown cable bolts into the trans- take out the 7/16 bolt pull out whole assembly (beware of trans fluid coming out) replace the o-ring on the plactic shaft... That should fix it!

Re: Turbo 350 tranny question

Found the vent....Its on the driver side, see if a insect has plugged it up. If not you have bigger problems if fluid is getting that far up on the manifold. You can push air through the dipstick tube to see if the vent is clogged, dont push too much through or you will catch it all back (fluid) when you remove the air. You should hear air coming out the vent if its ok.
