67 power steering swap
I have a 67 C10 with ram assist power steering. Can I swap a 72 C10 power steering set up or can I turn the 67 into manual steering

Re: 67 power steering swap
I'm not familiar with the ram assist steering, mine had manual. You can go either route. The manual route is probably easier. Power steering just requires a couple of modifications.

Re: 67 power steering swap
Exactly, you will either need to dimple the frame or use spacers. I initially tried the spacer route, but it puts everything off-center and makes the steering feel "twitchy." So, I heated it and dimpled it to make room for the box. It doesn't take much. You will also have to put a little notch in the bumper bracket because the PS box is a little longer than the manual one. The final thing you will need to do is trim a little off of the radiator support (just about 1/4 inch or so off of the edge).
I've heard of people using a later box without dimpling, but I don't know if it really works or not. Of course, you then will start running into metric fittings.
