Hidden compartments???
Ok, so i've been thinking about creating an electronic compartment to secure my pistol. With the way everything is going you really can't afford to leave the house with out it. I was just wondering if anyone else had anything like this in their trucks??? Any ideas?? (btw i have a c.h.l.)

Re: Hidden compartments???
Just a thought on how to do it.I've never had a sq body but I think I would look at the drop down battery set-ups sold for trucks. The ones that mount to the frame.Design one to have a flat lock box instead of the tray. Then set it up to fold up below or behind the glovebox or maybe the seat.If it tucks out of sight under the Gbox I think it would be handier there.

Re: Hidden compartments???
To post youtube clips just copy and past the URL in from the address bar and past it here, it will do all the work for you.
The Idea that PD has is a decent one. But one thing you have to keep in mind is that you want your gun quickly accessible. Ive heard of some people put there gun between the cushions. If you don't smoke, you could turn the ash try into some kind of lock box. Also create something in the glove box. Or you could make a center console and make some kind of compartment that you want out of the side. I don't know how much room there is in the door but you could fab something up for that. A lot of it depends on how far your willing to go with this and your ability. You could even create something in the roof since its a two piece section.

Re: Hidden compartments???
Sorry, but read the title and the first thing that popped in to my head was the old SNL skits where everything in the store was a "you can put your weed in there" item.
Found one example:

Re: Hidden compartments???
I just keep mine in the side pocket in the door panel. If someone comes knocking that I dont want to talk to I dont want to be fumbling around trying to unlock my sidearm. Thats just me though.

Re: Hidden compartments???
unfortunatly you would have to use your imagination with this idea... some BMW door panels have a pocket that is formed out of say... plastic and it has a hinge and kinda springy.... either flush with the door out extended. this picture shows it flush with the door panel.
well you could make something like that for your door panel in place of your factory pocket.. you could make it look like the bag pocket was still there but its not ? thats all I got for quick access other than inside your headrest or something...? clint

Re: Hidden compartments???
I just keep mine in my IWB holster. I am going to be mounting a holster in my center console when I install it in the truck. I'll be keeping a second firearm in there.

Re: Hidden compartments???
I'm with Fat Hoe, mine is on my side or in a holster I have next to my console. I do not leave my weapon in my truck locked or not.

Re: Hidden compartments???
Hidden compartments aren't really anything new as guys have been building them into sub boxes and such for years.
If you're looking for something with easy access, and security, then its gonne be a tought one. If you've got buckets and a console, building a locking console is pretty easy and you can actually add a power lock like you have in your doors so whenever you leave the truck it locks. If you have a bench, the challenges are a bit more overwhelming. The door panel would be the best bet, but building something secure and safe should the truck be broken into is going to be very hard.
