lets talk performance
OK gents!
So i was going to put a new stock motor in my 98 2wd blazer with a 4.3.. but a firend of mine REALLLLY wants it. BUT he dosent want the stock motor. so we negotiated a deal but he wants me to build him a screaming little motor. maby 300 hp if plausable. But the issue to me is that the motors bad because the PO had ran it avter overheating and it has no compression now. im worried that if i pull the block down the walls wont be serviceable. Do you guys think this is worth the time and effort? Also what has been commonly done and proven worth while for a build? I personally ahve been thinking repair cyl walls, get a different piston to bring up the compression and a mild cam. exhaust and intake also. whats your input? thanks!

Re: lets talk performance
I agree with 68C15 on the Goodwrench reman if you decide to go with the V6.
I have a 2002 Extended cab with a 4.3 and a 5 speed, it's really cool, but not V8 cool. A non elaborate 5.3/4l60e swap would be bone stock fun and still yield excellent fuel economy and 300hp for roughly the same price. I plan on a V8 swap for my S10 and will probably end up with this or and LS1/T56 swap. Check out these links. They top my list in all the research I've done on this. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/lsx-discussion/ http://www.currentperformance.com/s10wir.html

S10forum.com has an entire V8 section, and an LSX section. Go check it out.

Re: lets talk performance
doesn't Whipple have a roots type blower that fits these CSFI Vortecs? that should get him close to or past 300 HP.
for what the parts cost I wouldn't bother building a 4.3. a Goodwrench reman goes for about $2100 |

Re: lets talk performance
That could work as well, a friend of mine had a blower on his 98 SS and was putting 290hp to the wheels. He has an LT1 now though, .
