engine indentification
I am trying to figure out what my engine is with no luck,any help would be appreciated.It is sbc,rear of the engine says 57lg with 56t underneath also i163 number there to.and front of the block vko75971 Thanks

Look for a large casting number on the block behind the driver side head. This is the casting number for type of block. The two or three letters and number on the block flat right in front of the passenger head is the vehicle type and part of the VIN. Then look here

thats the only #s i could find,i will look again.Could it be gm goodmark engine maybe thats wye only #found.

If it's a GM Block, then there will always be a casting number on the back of the block driver side. The two/three letter suffix on the front may be missing if it's a crate engine or if the block has been shaved.
