The new guy....first post

Hi all, just picked up a good project for my 14 yr old and myself to work on together(just started freshman auto shop). this is my first 60-66 chevy(had a 56 and 58 in my teens-twentys) and found your site .Glad this is here ,it's loaded with great info. the truck is a 66 swb with a nice running sbc and some lowering coils front and rear. the fronts are cut(too cut) but the po gave me a set of 3" ccp coils. The back has 5" ccp coils and I'm going to go drop spindles in the front soon. thanks and look forward to spending lots of time here.........

Welcome to the site from the Inland Northwest. Nothing better than dad/kid bonding, it can last a lifetime. I like your truck, especially the wheels/bullet hubs, steering wheel and peep mirror, all nice additions.

Welcome to the forum

Looks like a nice truck to work with....appears that someone put some money into the engine too. Does it run as good as it looks?

A father, son project is an awesome thing to do together. I started that with my son and we still work on projects together....and he's almost 30 now.

Re: The new guy....first post

She runs real good. I got the build sheet and reciepts for the engine, alum. heads, bal-blue printed, the whole bit. The reciept I got is made out to hotrod magazine in so-cal. I'm not sure but I think it was built for a project car and then sold after the story-project was finished. I wish I knew more but atleast I got the build sheet , cam sheet and bal-print stuff.I think it is low mile as well.....still has that "new engine" smell......and she's got a fresh built 12 bolt with a GM posi(also fresh rebuilt)....down side.....still has the 3 speed, but looking for a m21 or so

Hmmm interesting. I don't read Hot Rod any more, so I wouldn't have seen it. Might be worth a search.

Welcome to the site from high up in the Nor-Cal sticks. Looks like a really good start you've got for your project. Glad to see another father/son effort, sure makes the hobby a lot more enjoyable.

Welcome aboard! That truck looks like it is already off to a great start! Also, I grew up in Folsom/Orangevale and where you live is where I drove my 73 Chevy 3/4 ton when I first got my license. I would always rip and down the neighborhoods around there, just too excited that I was legal.

HA! I used to pull into Cathlamet on a buoy tender I was on. We would walk straight into the River Rat Tap and have us a drink. Good times.
