3/8" 24 square weldnuts
guys need a source for these: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts. i can find 3/8" 16 all day long. fixing the lower door hinge pocket on my 56' panel. i realize for $88 bucks delivered i can purchase repair parts but i'm not gonna cut up the doors when i can build a 2"x4.5" plate and weld it in to fix issue with doors. these are not "caged nuts" those are different dogs. thanks.

You maybe better off buying flat stock and making your own. Onlinemetals.com is in your neck of the woods or speedymetals.com will sell you small pieces at reasonable prices.

I couldn't find any with enough movement to adjust the doors. If you scroll down to post #117 and you can see what I did. You do have to hold them from behind but once they're in they work fine.

Re: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts
thanks! so what your saying is you left them as "floaters" instead of welding them to the door lower hinge pocket mounting plate. great idea and i wouldn't say you were cheap just have seen the reality of "sub-standard" replacement parts that require as much time fitting them as you would take making your own. these days i tell anyone building these trucks when they are thumbing through a wish book (catalog) that the only thing that bolts on "is a wheel!"

Re: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts
the area that i'm having issue is on the door in the lower hinge pocket so i'll be welding them solid like they were factory as the door hinge has plenty of adjustment. i do like the idea of using countersunk rivets to hold them in place. my hinge pockets in the door jambs are in good condition thankfully but i think using kims idea using "reinforced" nut plates will work great later on. thanks guys!

Re: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts
Mar-K has them. Just make sure you get all of the galvanizing off of them before you weld them to the hinge pocket.

Re: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts
got the rest of the door apart tonight and need to drill out the leftover cut off screws that held on the metal door panel, gonna use some heat and a left-handed drill bit. i will post some pic's of the weld nuts on the new repair panel for the door. door will be much easier to hang with the weight of the window removed. window regulator is in good shape with exception of the nylon rollers, who sells them?

Re: 3/8" 24 square weldnuts
the 3/8" 24 "weldnuts" showed up today so we can start on the door repair. they look exactly like the ones they use on the reproductions repair parts.
