Re: chipping a 05 duramax?????

What do you guys plan on doing with the truck? There are a lot of different avenues you could go. Some are cheap, but you get what you pay for. You want to make sure whatever you get programs the transmission too.

Re: Best chip or module for a of 05 duramax

The best way to increase MPG on a common rail diesel is to advance the injection timing.

Most modules on the market are "pressure boxes" all they do is trick the PCM into raising rail pressure, This does make horsepower but is hard on injectors.

Ive heard good things about EFIlive http://www.efilive.com/

You might check out Bullydog programmers.

Give a look at a diesel site too. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/forum.php

How do you do that? We just need a gas saver, its got plenty of power for what we use it for and we dont want anything that is hard on the truck or will hurt it. How do EFIlive's work? I would like somthing as simple as possible and dont want it to hurt the truck at all.
Thanks

This might help if you go with EFIlive.

Re: chipping a 05 duramax?????

your best is to go with efilive if you have the money for it or the next bet is the ppe programmer

Re: chipping a 05 duramax?????

If you don't want to deal with efilive and would rather a canned tuner PPE is your next best option

Im assuming the Efi Live is a tuner that you adjust yourself? I wouldnt feel as comfortable doing that as i dont know much about diesels. Reading those forums on Efi Live tuning scared me lol. From the way it sounds the Efi Tuner is a tuner you adjust yourself and it seems that if you dont know what your doing you can really mess things up, am i right? The PPE seems more of a plug an play thing(i would mostly prefer that so i dont mess anything up lol), is that true? Does anybody use any of these? How hard are they to work.
Thanks.

Yes, EFILive and HPtuners gives you full control over the tables that are offered and you can F stuff up if you dont know what you are doing.
Sounds like you would be best with a handheld tuner where you just answer some Y N questions and it uploads the tune. then if you want to go back to stock you can do that too.

So a PPE is considered a hand tuner right? How do you work them? And do you sell them? A friend of ours us has this tuner http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...display&pid=62 and i want to get your advise on it. Is this tuner better? http://www.xtremediesel.com/ppexcele...grammer-1.aspx which one out of the two would you recomend, or is there somthing better?

Thanks

PPE is a handheld style programmer from a shop
http://www.pacificp.com/

I have sold just about all of them, each one has different likes and dislikes. Heck, my brother with his F250 has tried 3-4 different ones and is back to an Edge, he tows with his truck every day and liked it better for different reasons.

Best to just research what is out there and figure out what you want, some have cool displays to go on the dash to keep an eye on things and others just load up and that's it....its all what you want.....
