Plastic door panels restorable?

Who has had success at this and what did you do? I needed another door panel and was able to pick up a really nice set for $10 over the weekend. They are parchment and I want blue ones. Has anyone had success painting these?

Re: Plastic door panels restorable?

Years ago I had a 72 that was blue on blue. I used a scuff pad and a pre paint cleaner to scuff and clean the door panels and dash pad then wiped them with a rag and the cleaner again. If you dont have painting equipment check to see if your paint store can put the paint(dye) into spray cans for you. That was an option for me but I had the equipment. I also used some adhesive promotor just in case and fogged on 3 coats of dye and let it dry. Like with painting anything else, a few light coats will turn out better than trying to spray a heavy wet coat.

Re: Plastic door panels restorable?

I just bought a light green 70 that has darker green/blue dash pad and door panels. Ill be having a paint shop mix up something closer to the color of the truck later to re-dye them. This time I think Ill just have them put it into cans though.
