TH700R4 Wiring Question
I'm in the process of changing my TH350 to a TH700R4 transmission in my 72. I got the transmission out of a 92 2wd Suburban. I purchased a TCI Torque Converter Lockup Wiring Kit, p/n 37660, and have it installed in my transmission. I was told that this kit would not work in my truck and I should purchase a kit from GM Performance Parts, p/n 24502513, which eliminates the the wiring harness and only changes the TV spring in the valve body. Anybody have any expierence with either of these kits? I'm ready to put the transmission in this weekend but I'm going to hold off if the kit I bought isn't going to work.

Re: TH700R4 Wiring Question
It will work just fine in your truck. Just wire it up to the spare terminals on your brake switch on the pedal. Thing is you want the TC to unlock when you step on the brake, so make sure you are using the right terminals. Open when brake on and closed when brake off.
You can use the other one for a hydraulic lock up as well, but this one is fine.

Re: TH700R4 Wiring Question
Does the wiring kit include a replacement brake light switch? The stock switch on these trucks has only 2 terminals.

Re: TH700R4 Wiring Question
I have a 700 in my Blazer. I bought a stop light switch for a 78 Corvette with cruise control. Wired the brake lights as usual. The cruise side of the switch was wired to the A terminal on the trans ( purple wire ). I interrupted this wire with a toggle switch. This way I could ' lock up' the converter when I wanted. This way when you are cruising 40 ish, you can let the converter be ' unlocked' . This will keep your truck from lugging, like it is in too high of a gear. Lokar cable, and their bracket at the holley carb
