Problem w/ Door Hinge.
Hi ya'll....finally got the cab in a place where I could re-hang a door to check gaps and whatnot. Here's the problem(s).
1. The top outside bolt on the upper hinge hits the hinge plate and won't let the door shut all the way. Everything is tight and aligned, so I'm wondering if anybody has run into this issue and what they did about it. 2. The door gap on the latch side of the door is about 3/8"! I have the door slid back on the pillar as much as I can. Do I; a. Do the Kevin Lewis (rokcrln) thing and weld some .125" filler rod along the edge of the door? b. loosen the door-to-hinge bolts and slide in some shim plates to move the door back some more?

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
May sound crazy, but are you sure you didn't mix up the hinges? Driver/Passenger? I've done dumber stuff.

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
I am having a similar issue. Could anyone provide a few photos of the proper hinge configuration.
Thanks!

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
Just checked my trucks passenger side hinge. and the hinge in the photo looks correct compared to mine. did the door ever close correct? check the cabs hinge mounting point to make sure its not tweaked a little. or the front edge of the door isn't bent. I had a door that was really giving me fits and thats what was my problem was. I would (not a pro) pull the door off and really check it out maybe even look into a new hinge set up. not much money and then you will know for sure where your at . hope this helps cheers, Pat P.S. these trucks were built at the time to be( work trucks) so at gm the door fit was never as good as todays standards jmo,

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
Did you rockers and corners? If so was the cab cut loose off of the frame? The jamb could have shifted on you, especially if the floor was weak or non-exsistent. There should not be a "special" bolt for that hinge. Your hinge is in the right spot and location (lft/Rght) so that is not a problem. I would check the the hinge pocket to be sure it is not bent out - someone opening too far at some good point or even the wind blowing too far over. You can use a 2x4 to sink the pocket a little to get the clearance you need, it is a miracle tool . As far as your gap the rod thing is your best bet, but on a set of doors I had on a 69 I actually built mig weld bead down the door edge and then ground it to the gap i wanted- use a flap disc when doing this to keep heat down. Shims behind the hinge are a good idea and can be used if you have room in the upper door opening, but if you dont it will not work to close the gap up as much as you want.

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
With the bolt issue, same exact thing happened to me. I just had to grind the bolt head down a tad and problem solved. I thought it happened to me because I noticed my aftermarket hinge was slightly thicker than stock, but it looks like you are using a stock hinge.

Re: Problem w/ Door Hinge.
It would seem that all of the aftermarket hinges any more are thicker than the originals. I do not like them, I rebuild the originals in stead. Your hing looks like an original and the only time I have seen the problem that you are having is when the wrong bolt is being used. Just grind the head a little and your problem will be solved. WES
