8 lug Disc Brake Converstion

I have a 1969 c-20.I have mildly built 383 and im runnin' 33 pro comp xterrains...the stock drums just arent cutting it.I've been looking around for a front disc converstion for a 8 lug but can not find one.I dont want to go to a 5 or 6 lug because i just got new rims on it.I was looking into the possiblity of taking out the crossmember and all the front suspension and replacing it with a 73 or later crossmember and suspension. Not just for the disc but also because i would be able to find lift spindles and longer a-arms for it.Any info. on and 8 lug disc conversion and a-arms or how much work it take to do the 73 front end would be appreciated.Thanks.

I agree with you there. I did a disc conversion on my C2500. I THINK the parts are 73 and up. The discs were on a 70 Longhorn parts truck I bought. I used the spindle assembly and bought new balljoints, inner and outer tie rods and adjusting sleeves, reconditioned calipers for a '72 along with new metal as well as rubber brake lines for a '72. I cut the ear that stabilizes the junction of the metal and rubber line from the donor truck. I mocked up all of the lines and tack welded the bracket to the front of my crossmember, installed the new balljoints in my a-arms, and unlike 1/2 tons, used my existing centerlink with the new tire rods. I used the drum booster and a new disc master. The combination valve I used is from a 73 and up so I had to plug one of the front line openings. Other than that, it's awesome. I you can hold out for awhile, I imagine you will find a disc donor.
