700r4 out of a caprice?
Will a 700r4 out of a caprice work in a truck?

My .02 is the tranny has no idea if it's in a car or truck. The drive shaft lengthwill probably be the issue

As long as you're sourcing a tranny, look for one with the casting line running through the top coolant hole/boss. They're the stronger cased 700's.

you need to measure the tailshaft on your trans and the one on the donor car to make sure they are the same size so the driveshaft will work... the bolt pattern on the bell housing is the same, also you will prolly need to switch over the transmission mount

i figured it'd work, and i'm pretty sure i'll have to change mounts, but i didnt know if the ones in cars were shorter than the ones that came in trucks.

the ones in a car should be the same as the ones in a truck except for the tail shaft, You can take a tape measure and verify this
