Re: Wheel polish
I have had good luck with the Meguiars "Hott Wheels" polish. It goes on pretty easily, too.

Re: Wheel polish
It's actually called 'Hot Rims', but it is the magic bullet - it will polish out most anything.

Re: Wheel polish
Get the rouge (sp?) bar sold at most metal supply stores, the green, brown, white ones. Each color is a different abrasive. Smash it into powder with a hammer, fill a bottle with odorless mineral spirits and the powder to desired thickness and you will have an awesome polish that works with little effort.

Re: Wheel polish
Sometimes the metal shops will have it pre mixed but much cheaper to do it yourself. Believe me I feel your pain owning a couple of Peterbilts and trying to keep them polished with the least amount of effort I found this method and it takes 80% of the elbow effort out of it just wipe on wipe off and after a few times you get that mirror finish.

Re: Wheel polish
Are you just doing the rim and not the center, since it looks like a machine finish. Are you polishing by hand? I have some generic polished alloy rims on my truck and they got so bad I had to wet sand them and polish them out with a buffer wheel and rouge. I got the rouge from a guy at Hot August Nights who started making his own for polishing big rig wheels.
