Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

Don't think we want anything to cushion the bed. A load would ultimately cause them to fail and the bed would end up with a lean and be uneven on the chassis. I'm glad the designers and engineers didn't put cushions on them.

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

My truck came with nothing between the bed and frame, and I'll put it back that way, but they do sell pads for this:

Bed Mounting Pads - Shortbed

Bed Mounting Pads - Longbed

I cut up squares from an inner tube and used them between the two.

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

I bought a set of pads for my bed from classic parts, there where none there before but as I'd seen them in the brochure I thought they would be a good thing and may stop squeaking between the frame & bed...they are about 1/4" thick and all I succeeded in doing was raise my bed and put the trim outa line with the cab.

Add a 1/4" shim under your cab and rad support bushings. Or just remove the bed mount pads.

I like the idea of the bed being cushioned so I reckon on raising the cab as you suggest Diesel.

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

A piece of bicycle inner tube make sense. Otherwise, the out-of-alignment issue makes me think of trying to get a chair level by cutting off one leg, then another, Y3.

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

I have the bed pads in my truck cab mount kit as well, i have the bed off right now but was going to try to use them and see how it lines up, if not they will ether come out or the cab mounts will be raised to match.

My question will be how tight to tighten the cab mounts? i have slight compression right now.

The other is where to you guys get your spacers?

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

Nothing goes under the bed??
I pulled my bed off to paint it and in the rear it had 2 hockey puck looking things with a few shims.... My bed sat perfectly with these installed.

Re: Frame to bed bushing kit??

When I replaced the wood in my LWB there was nothing between the frame and bed. I replaced the wood and put it back with nothing between the frame and bed and everything lined up perfectly.
