Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

I have never seen a set of these but they are the largest diameter wheel offered on this era truck. These are not mine...just saw them on local craigslist.

Re: Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

They were used on commercial (Fleet) trucks. The railroad industry and Forest Service come to mind.

Longhair, Interesting...guess I just never looked hard enough. If they were on fleet trucks then they should be fairly common....and lower in price...LOL!

Re: Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

I was at a salvage yard about a year ago and saw about 20 of those wheels still bolted up to GM 14 bolt rears that they had salvaged out of some single wheel aluminum bodied stepvans like Fedex or mail trucks. They would look cool on a 4x4 but tire choices in the 19.5s are not the best...and real Pricey!

Yeah, $600 for 4 wheels seems nuts!

I'm guessing he has no clue to the real value so he is starting high and working downwards. Just a thought.

My guess is he thinks these are "Rare" and will be highly sought after. Which they are rare, just not the rare item most everybody and the market is looking for.

Re: Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

Blazerman's right about poor tire availability. The guy says ideal for 4x4s,but most treads are more all season than on/off road.UPS ran this size. These wheels have no provisions for hub caps.I have a couple hundred less than that in my set of 8.25 x 16.5s after paying for sand blasting & powdercoating

Re: Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

Exactly. Besides the only aggressive tread affordable tire would be a retread. And those ride terrible on a light truck.

Re: Rare 19.5-inch Wheels

I remember the "Turtle Expedition" built a way cool F450 or 550 with custom widened wheels. The only decent tread was Michelins in that size. The same had been true for the stock width, although maybe Goodyear Workhorses were also available. They ended up scrapping those wheel/tires for something with more choices. These wheels would be perfect for a restoration where the more unusual trucky options are the goal.
