Project "5th try"
This is the 5th 67-72 truck started. All the others were sold for one reason or another... Ok, lets get down to the details. I picked up the 50th cab and clip that N2billet had for sale when he parted out project Point Blank/Tootsie Roll. Also bought the Suicide Doors chassis that 2wd73blazer had for sale. It's going to be a slow build. A lot of the hard work is allready done. Smooth firewall/hood hinges, etc. Trying to keep it simple. Old school 350 sbc/th350 trans combo. The main thing is to stay on track and try to get it on the road. Paint and wheels will come later. Possible and current wheel and tire info... Front: 20x8.5 with 5.25bs 255/40/20 Rear 22x9 with 5.00 bs 265/40/22 22X10 5.5 BS & 20X8.5 5.25 BS Tires will be: 285/35/22 255/40/20 Toyo Proxes ST2 Current: 15x7(3.625"bs) & 15x8(4"bs) rally wheels with General Altimax RT 235/70R-15 & 265/70R-15 General Grabber UHP

Re: Project "5th try"
Added some picts to the first post. The hinges were fabricated by N2Billet when he had the truck. They are welded in, not bolted like the PB hinges.

Re: Project "5th try"
I can't seem to find his old build thread. You could always shoot him a pm. Looks like everything was cut out of flat plate.

Re: Project "5th try"
Looks like you have a great start.
What does the suicide doors rear kit do about the driveshaft support xmember? Can you do me a favor? Can you measure the center to center on the lower link bars and wishbone? across and center? Thanks! |

My bars are 31"CTC so im thinking that I might need to install the wishbone backwards as opposed to that kit. That and my truck is a converted SWB, but not the same as everyone else. nothing from the kit will kit my frame in the right place. The wishbone isnt that much to buy from them. And the wishbone Xmember looks simple enough. |

Re: Project "5th try"
Your front clip wouldn't happen to have a blue hood, would it?
Looks sweet! |

Re: Project "5th try"
Looks like the wishbone is about 32 1/2" c/c and 26" wide over all. The 26" included the 1/4" pl mounting brackets also.
The link bars are 35" c/c with about 1/2" of thread showing.

Re: Project "5th try"
Finially took apart the 350 small block I got from a buddy. I was just planning on cleaning it up and doing a gasket change and paint... Motor looks like it had sat for quite awhile with the dist. removed. Had a nice rodent nest in the lifter valley. Scored a set of fresh rebuilt 882 casting heads that I found on craigslist last weekend.
I've also traded for a aluminum weiand intake and a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb. Now all that left is deciding if I'm going to chance cleaning up the short block I have or just get a fresh one from a local machine shop. I'm leaning towards the rebuilt one since the one I have is so filthy.
