Seat belt swaps
I searched the forums and didnt find anything helpful about this. Can I take a set of 80's seat belts and bolt them into a 70's model that was originally equipped with 3-point seat belts? I understand that the setups are slightly different but just not sure if they will bolt up...

Re: Seat belt swaps
I think they will bolt up. Worst case you'll need to bend the bracket a bit to make it sit right. I'm thinking about swapping some out of a 91 suburban now. The ratcheting lap belts just don't cut it for extended driving. I feel like I'm about pinched in half by the time I get to work.
There was a posting on here about a company that rebuilds seatbelts that I was thinking about giving a call to see how much it would cost to get the correct color webbing on the burban's belts.

Re: Seat belt swaps
instead of two reels, mounted separately, one for the lap and one for the shoulder belts, it is all in one housing mounted down where the lap portion of our belts mount. Also the lap belt does not lock (plus) without some acceleration or jarring. I'll try to grab some pics if that doesn't make sense.

Re: Seat belt swaps
Oh yeah I see what you mean with the suburban belts. I've never had a problem with the old ratcheting style except for when my driver side decided to start locking all the time. The passenger one works really good and doesn't lock unlesss you pull really hard, but it's hard to find a good set of belts from the 70's models.
