Need help with a desicion...

Kind of a WIW but more of a would you buy these two trucks for $900. 68 is complete(Needs to be put back together), the rolling chassis is registered a 67 but as you can tell the cab is not a 67 cab...Comes with a 327 and a TH400.... Opinions...

Yes, It looks like it has disc brakes already. That alone is worth a couple hundred bucks. What shape is the sheet metal in? The parts you don't need or use can be sold to recoup some of the money.

If the '68 has the gold dash pad and gold visors it is probably a 50th Anniversary truck. I don't remember what the code# is on the SPID label for that, but someone will.

You don't see a lot of 68's with AC either. Looks like a CST too. Nice 68 there!

Once again Yes and if you want I would be interested in the 327. That would help you make some your money back right off the bat.; I noticed you have Waco in you name. I grew up in Waco are you from that area?

I grew up just north of Waco in Elm Mott! I live in Kempner, down near Ft Hood now. But, am eventually moving back closer to family...just gotta find a job out there first...

Would I be doing this truck a disservice to turn it into a 4X4 and put a Cummins under the hood? Keep the original paint scheme and interior and such, but change the drivetrain and suspension...

Re: Need help with a desicion...

thats the beauty in building these trucks... there is no wrong answer. Build them like you want. You'll get some ppl thinking you are awesome, and then there will still be the purists thinking you need your tools taken away from you. But in the 'old truck circles'... there's more people on the do what you want side of the fence.

Re: Need help with a desicion...

No, S*** my parents live between Elm Mott and Ross. Kempner is on 190? I have thought about moving back, but every time I do I run into someone I know and realize why I left. My parents are getting old, My Moms health and dad needs help with the property and all his projects. I go back once a month and help him for the weekend with one or the other. If I was retired it might be more of a realistic opinion. Are these trucks in central Texas?

Re: Need help with a desicion...

well I bought them! I just got back to Kuwait after two weeks on R&R. They are in descent shape. All I really needed was the rear end out of the rolling chassis, which I think might be a posi, but not real sure. So I will soon be parting the rest out.

Pat, you are welcome! Yeah, thats kind of my plan now...The guy that was doing the custom body work on my bed dissappeared with my bed...So now I get to go find another bed and then start all over with a bed...The money I get from selling the leftover parts will help to start funding a new bed.

If I ever find him...Well lets just say I handed him the bed and $1600 cash to have it done when I came home on R&R...enough said!

Re: Need help with a desicion...

Are you planning to use either of those cabs on your finished project? If yes, does it come with a title that matches the VIN tag? If it doesn't, you could be in for some long hassles with your DMV.

Ray,
No I dont plan on using either cab...They will be forsale soon. I dont have a title for either truck as the guy didnt want to go through the hassle at the dmv to get them.
