vacuum brake booster
I recently bought a brake booster from a 1983 1/2 ton chevy truck, I recently was looking through the forum and didnt see anything on installing the brake booster. I was wondering if there was any alterations needed to fit a 69 chevy 1/2 ton? I was looking at the booster, Seen that I may have to drill out the top two holes to install properly? Has anyone run into this problem? Let me know what you think, Thanks Eric

Re: vacuum brake booster
If that booster setup doesn't work out for you, I have an alternative that will work.

Re: vacuum brake booster
Mounting is easy, but you will need to drill out the upper two holes. The linkage to the pedal will need to be adjusted, and you will need to drill a hole in the pedal to connect the linkage to. Thats it.

Re: vacuum brake booster
Brans72 Thanks for the help, hope it works out for you. Look forward to see the pics!
Captainfab I seen your bracket and looks sweet, will go that route if I dont like the stock bracket. robnolimit I assume that you use the same holes on the bottom of the bracket? I was looking at the pics from other projects but not certain. Thanks Eric

Re: vacuum brake booster
Do you have an auto or manual tranny? If you have an auto, the later boosters with the standard bracket will hit the shift linkage and thus needs to be spaced out. This is how I did it:
auto tranny If you have a manual, then you can mount the bracket to the firewall like this. manual tranny

Re: vacuum brake booster
Thank you. You are too kind. These are the reasons I love this board. Chances are someone somewhere has already done something and they are more than willing to share it. Hope it works for you.
At some point, I want to get one of the boosters that mount to the firewall and built my own bracket for it. But this works for now.
