OK-broke stove bolts off, now what?
OK-Just bought the crazy 71 stepside-inline 6 250. Got home, noticed the gasket between intake and exhaust is gone. Pulled mainfold off and tried to take apart. Result (as you guys probably already know), bolts all broken now. So I just need to know the quickest and cheapest way to resolution. New exhaust, tap and new stud in intake? Exhaust has cracks everywhere, intake looks ok except single broke bolt...
Thanks in advance. |

Re: OK-broke stove bolts off, now what?
I picked up an exhuast mani for $10.00 at Pull-a-Part.It also has broken studs but I can replace them, clean and ppaint it and have it ready to go without having the truck down for long.My mani to exhuast pipe stud are stripped but have a couple of oversized nuts to keep the nuts on useable threads for now.I drilled it out and picked up a tap though I haven'[t had a chance to get it tapped yet.I'll be using anti-sieze on all of it during reassembly.

I had mine done at a local machine shop. Had them drill them out and put new studs in. I think it was like $20 for 3 bolts. It was well worth it to me than fighting the current one or the spare I had a from a pick & pull.
