New to the forum...need help ID'ing my tranny!
 First of all, I'd like to say hello and this site has been amazing at helping me with my rebuild. I have a 70 GMC 1/2 ton, with a 350 sbc out of a 75 p/u. My transmission is a 4 speed with "CROUSE-HINDS MEXICO" stamped on the side. What exactly is this? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the board! I did a google search but only found things related to electrical components as it pertains to that stamp name you gave. Never heard of it before personally but I am willing to bet someone will chime in and know exactly what you've got. Got any pics of the truck??

whats the shift pattern? reminds me of a new process not a 435, maybe a 434 or the 433 couldnt find pics of those though.

Well, mystery solved...somewhat. I found out that it's an SROD (single rail overdrive) tranny used in Fords! What the hell?! Is this going to pose a problem when I swap it out for a GM tranny?

Maybe the truck spent some time "down south....of the border" and got a transplanted gearbox in order to make the trip back north. Stranger things have happened. I also agree that the only time I've seen the Crouse-Hinds name is on electrical goods.
