what did you get done standard time edition 11/7/2010

I didnt get a chance to do anything relted to the chevy this week but i accomplished alot with the ranger. She got a new motor mount trans mount had the rear leafs re arced added a leaf and new spring bushings plus i swapped in the ashtray assembly into it so now i have a place to put the cigar in lol
last night i went to a birthday party for an old friend and had some nice cake and chicken wings lol
Im trying to get the ambition to get the chevy project going again
I hope everyone set their clocks right if their state participates in the time change and i sure hope everyone tested their smoke and co 2 detectors and changed batteries cause i sure dont want to hear that anyone got hurt of killed for such a simple thing to do
How about you all?

Looked at the trucks and just shook my head. Getting ready to remove the window a.c. units from the house and store them away upstairs in the garage.

Re: what did you get done standard time edition 11/7/2010

Over the past couple months I've been collecting parts for my next truck project. Yesterday I finally scored a major piece of the project, the actual truck. LOL.

Been looking for a 48-53 Chevy and picked up a '50 Chevy that will be turned into a Rat Rod style truck resting on an S-10 chassis.

The truck is totally disassembled, needs a hood and a rear fender. The stock chassis is junk, someone tried to graft a late model Caprice clip and had no earthly idea what they were doing. But! The deal included every patch panel needed for cab rust repair, new glass, new glass rubber, new cab rubber, boxes of parts, and a clean title all for $500.00!

Pictures........
http://s430.photobucket.com/albums/q.../1950%20Chevy/

I brought home a truck load of stuff last night the rest will be brought home next weekend. This one is going to be a blast not having to worry about body and paint work. LOL. Other than the rust repair of course.

Good deal Brian . Isaw a 50 someting Studebaker truck over in the valley the other week , Iwas going to contact you about , but it looks like Im too late .
It looked in decent shape > body on a rolling frame & I bet they would have wanted a pretty penny for it.

So iGUESS YOU WILL SELL ME THE OLD HEAP NOW pretty cheap since you are tired of it

Did a tuneup on mine, surprising how much that motivates you to do more work once it runs a lot better.

I didn't do anything truck-related. I cleaned gutters, raked and bagged leaves today. Got a different phone Saturday.

carried the truck out to the place we're gonna paint it. probably be more work cleaning up the shop than it will be painting the truck. get to spend more time with our aunt that's suffering from cancer, and that's a good thing.

Re: what did you get done standard time edition 11/7/2010

Found out my 454 needed 2 exhaust valves. Rockers had beaten the crap out of them and one was worn down a little past the top of the keepers. Engine was getting ready to drop it. Ordered 2 valves and rockers. Waiting on the parts till i can get it back together and into the truck. The one benefit of this is that I found out the 454 I was going to use and pretty much just take a chance on running right had been recently rebuilt 0.060" over. Still has the crosshatching in the cylinders.

Re: what did you get done standard time edition 11/7/2010

made some solid progress on the C5 rear disc brake conversion kit I'm creating. Got the brackets from the cutter, installed them on my spare 12bolt, mounted everything, even solved the e-brake cable situation. All thats left is to center the caliper over the rotor and install for good.
