Need some Trans info and help

ok guys I need some help here.

I have an 85 2wd 1/2 ton with a 305/th350 combo. The trans is blown.

I have an opportunity to pick up a 81 c-10 diesel missing a bed for $150 but the drivetrain is complete. Its an automatic in the thing so does can anyone tell me what trans is in this thing, and will it bolt up to my Gas 305 without any problem?

Thanks in advance
Gregg

Re: Need some Trans info and help

you would have to look under the truck to see what trans is in there. Its identified by the pan/ Im thinking the diesels came with a th400 back then so you would need to swap driveshafts and i believe the kickdown cable is different. Also the 400 does not use the vacuum advance that you would have to block off at the carb
this link helps identify the trans by the pan http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-transm...tification.php

Re: Need some Trans info and help

I don't think the tranny swaps. The diesels where based on a 350 Olds block that had a different bellhousing bolt pattern. IIRC
