Re: shaving bed to cab
The frame has to much flex to make that practical. The panels would buckle badly after a short time.

Re: shaving bed to cab
If this is true, then how do the Blazer's not buckle panels? They utilize the same frame.

Re: shaving bed to cab
I haven't seen any buckled from this. Mainly they rust out more than anything.

Re: shaving bed to cab
Same frame except the ends where the rear bumper are. They are the same thickness and same height in the middle. The blazer has an extra body mount, where a pick up would have bolts holding the bed down. Now, there is a fifference in 2wd and 4wd. But every 2wd Blazer I have seen, had the exact same frame as a 2wd truck. Same with 4wd.

Re: shaving bed to cab
Blazer frames are considerably shorter, which would stiffen it automatically. Suburbans have a perminent roof, which stiffens things even more....
The biggest issue I can see is that the cab has rubber isolators that allow the body to move around some , absorbing so road vibration. The bed is solidly bolted to the frame. That could pose a problem? Either way, that is not "shaving".....Moulding maybe? but "shaving" involves removing things that "stick up". Door handles, locks, gas fillers, antennas, turn signals, etc.

Re: shaving bed to cab
I totally agree. Remove the bed mounting bolts, add rubber bushings/mounts, and you would have no need to worry. It is now an ElCamino.

Re: shaving bed to cab
Seems that suburbans would suffer even worse from the frame flex with their extended length.

Re: shaving bed to cab
Ok, you're right, I'm wrong. They aren't exactly the same, but they are the same structure which won't allow one to flex or twist more than the other enough to make it buckle like mentioned. I sure don't see pics or threads on here of suburbans and blazers with buckled body sides because of this.
