Re: Radios!

I've got a 15-yr old kenwood tape deck in mine. Oh YEAH!

But seriously, I plan on getting a stock am/fm radio when I get some $.

Re: Radios!

Google is your friend:

A Lot of these radios are set up to plug your MP3 into them, plus rca connectors for amps ect.

Re: Radios!

I just installed one with a DVD player, it also takes SD cards, CDs and has Bluetooth so my cell automatically links up when I get a call. It has a 5.5" motorized screen. I paid only $200 for it and have had it about two months now and it still works perfect. I recently hooked up rear view camera that automatically turns on when I put the truck in reverse. I have an ipod dock that displays the coverflow from my ipod on the screen and has its own remote, I can look through 400 CDs on my ipod and pick any one of them easily. I love it!
I mounted two ten inch subs in sealed boxes under the seat, a 6 inch midrange in each door and a 1.25" tweeter mounted the the dash just above my AC vents. I mounted three amps in the pocket behind the passenger seat. It sounds excellent.
Here is a pic of my cheap DVD,monitor.

You can see the view from my rear view camera on the screen.
Before I painted my truck I cut the dash and flattened the indentations where the radio knobs used to go, I also filled with my MIG the slight hole edge left from the holes the knobs went through on each side. To fit the screen I had to remove the face of my ashtray and mount a new one I made out of a piece of aluminum, I anodized it black, I am thinking of painting it to match the cab but I'm not sure yet.

Re: Radios!

here is what i had done to my factory am fm. I wanted to stay 60's era so i had a early corvette amp modified to work with my am fm and now it is stereo. the little red light shines when i have a stereo station tuned in. the 8 track is only mono.

Re: Radios!

The am/fm should be mono originally and the 8 track player would be Stereo not mono. GM never offered a am/fm/8 track combo for our era trucks. You might be able to make something fit with some work from the later model trucks, or just get an aftermarket NOS one off of ebay. Trevor
