Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

I am having a whale of a time trying to locate the proper paint color(s) for my 1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Fleetside with paint code 738-K (yes, that is it as I have checked and re-checked several times). Its plate indicates 3A59L - Series 3100, made in 1959 at the Los Angeles, California plant - but I can find zero references to the paint code 738-K for this model year (or any other model year for that matter). Nothing online or in books. Can anybody offer assistance?

Re: Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

738-K would be a two tone paint job the main color is Fronteir Beige 93-75276 and Bombay Ivory 93-72967 or Pure White 93-21667

These would have been baked enamel paints from the factory the above numbers are air dry paints. They should be DuLux paints numbers

Is there a chart somewhere that shows this? I have seen 738 without the -K listed as a Matador Red.

Re: Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

I have the Salesmans data book for 59 and it shows this in the book. There was no Matador Red for 59, The only Red in 59 for pickups was Cardinal Red

If you have a 59 then there are only a few colors available, when you get the front fenders off you should see the old color on the lower cowl. Another place that the color tends to remain is under the headlight trim and on the firewall.

Where did you get the code from?

Re: Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

Paint code is from the plate on the door jamb. The color of my vehicle is obviously a beige tint and the cab top is a white (avatar image at left, larger image in profile), but which combination would be correct and original? Would it be possibe to get an image of the page with the paint code?

I'll see if I can scan in the pages with the color schems. Fleetsides didn't have white tops according to my book, But you may have a truck that was repainted

Re: Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

I appreciate the images, but I do not see a reference to 738-K paint. Could you show that page and also the reference to no two-tone on Fleetsides?

Re: Paint code on 1959 Apache 3100

I wasn't able to get a scanner to work but here is what the book says

Two-Tone De Luxe Fleetside
Bombay Ivory is used on the grille, bumpers, hub caps, and as the secondary two-toning color. MAin color is roof, hood cab above the fender emblem all the way to the back. The area aroung the window is also Bombay Ivory.

Two-Tone Custom Feeltside
Bombay Ivory is the secondary two-toning color. The grille, bumpers hub caps and pickup box spear molding are chromed. Wheels are painted with the main color. Whits wall tires are optional

De luxe is the standard cab and custom is the dressed up cab

Your paint schem should look like the picture below since you have a Custom Cab
