Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
Is there anyone that has good re-pro version of these mirrors in SS?
I have tried looking for a used set in good shape, but have been unlucky so far. My old 72 is in the paint booth as we speak and I need to hunt down some matching mirrors...figured that someone here has bought a set sometime... ...ps...for the mods- a section specific search would be super useful - eg just being able to search the for-sale section or just the 67-72 section...thx. |

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
Mid-sixties car mirrors (Impala/Chevelle/Nova/Camaro) have a Bowtie on the backside, and the mirrors are about 4-inches in diameter. I've always liked them. Since your '72 OEM mirrors were mounted to the door, these might be an option.

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
LMC sells them, but the set I purchased was pretty chincy. I ended up purchasing a decent set of used ones off the truck board and gave the brand new tang ya ones to my cousin.

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
I bought a set from LMC also and they were so flimsy I put them back in the box and on the shelf. I went with a good used set too.

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
Yup, the DS mirror was a LMC special...it is now in the scrap bin...I was hoping to get a lot closer to the factory look and/or OEM maker....maybe someone will chime in with some ideas soon.

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
You need to find a used OEM set. They are stainless except for the mirror head arm which is chrome...and usually rusted or faded. That piece can be bought from NAPA.The 71/72s are different from the 69/70s.The top arm bolts flat and higher on 71/72s and the lower arms are shorter,so watch out for that.if you subscribe you can post a WTB and have the part come to you.

Re: Mid-size tri-pod mirrors
Yes,that's the one.For the chrome arm,I went to NAPA and they pulled out a book with a page or more of various "elbows" with dimensions listed and matched exactly to the one I brought in.
