crew cab headliner
Has anyone pulled one out lately? Am I going to be able to pull mine out without removing the seats that I JUST put in? or is it too big to pull out of the doors and have to come out through the windshield or something cray like that

Re: crew cab headliner
Took mine out last weekend. But planned to leave it off and had to weasel my roof console through the hole in the middle of it. I think it would have come out unscathed through the front doors, but I just folded mine in half, pulled it out the back and tossed it into my trash can...

Re: crew cab headliner
Wasn't in very good shape and would have been a tough ship to SC from CA. The truck was a custom conversion at one point (I'm guessing based on the interior that was in it before I got it) and the liner and pad was modifed for the full length oak light console that was mounted on the roof.
I'm really fond of the bare metal look on my truck. Happened to see it on another member's truck. Wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.

Re: crew cab headliner
this may vary depending on application, but its basic instructions.
1.With the screw driver remove every screw that holds the visors and anything else that is attached to the headliner. 2.Once no screws holding the headliner board are left use the dome light opening to push it toward a corner, and allow the opposite corner to come out of the molding that supports it. 3.Repeat in the next corner and remove the headliner from the cab. 4 Remove the old material from the headliner board. 5.With the brush remove all dirt from headliner board. 6.Apply the glue on the cleaned headliner board. 7Apply new material on the headliner board making sure the entire surface is properly glued. 8.Reinstall the headliner to the truck the same way it has been removed. here's a video, it's for cars, but still it will give you some idea of whats involved |

Re: crew cab headliner
Don't know about yours, but my regular cab 83 C20 was just a firm foam material, not cardboard. So, I was able to bend the edges slightly to remove and replace it - but I was careful. I had a local upholstery shop pull off what was left of the headliner and recover it - $45 I think. He advised not to try to pull too much off the headliner fabric because that would create cavities in the foam that the lined fabric would not cover up.

Re: crew cab headliner
I pulled one of of a Suburban, seats and everything in. Just be careful, have a friend handy to prevent damage to the headliner.

Re: crew cab headliner
I did mine but it was eaiser to remove the back glass and remove it, recover the headliner, reinstall it, and replace the back glass. just my experience.
