front bumper on a 78
has anyone ever seen or put a 81-87 front bumper on a 73-80 truck?
how about a 67-70 bumper? i'm looking at a 78 short/step and it's missing the front bumper--i'm not too fond of the 73-80 bumpers. i've seen a 73 bumper on a 69 before but i don't know if it just bolted on or if they modified it. |

Re: front bumper on a 78
I agree an 81-87 should have an 81-87 bumper and 73-80 should have a 73-80 and no mixing and matching.

Re: front bumper on a 78
thanks nerphin--looks pretty good i think.
how about a 67-70 bumper? i usually like to keep the right year parts on the right year truck but i just don't care for the 73 bumpers. i may just go without one at all or find a smooth roll pan. hey how about pics of that? |

Re: front bumper on a 78
they have them online somewhere but I hate those worse then any other bumper, they are just ugly IMO. I saw a thread earlier with a 73-80 withan 81-87 front bumper on it.

Re: front bumper on a 78
The 81-87 bumper will not work on the 73-80 body. The 73-80 fenders are wider than the 81-87 bumper. I almost cut my 80 frame horns to mount the 81-87 bumper as they are also different. This modification can be made with the whole front clip change. I have no interest in doing that on my truck.
Hope this helps |

Re: front bumper on a 78
The bumper is either lenghtened, trimmed down a lot or his fender is dented in. Kinda looks like the fender is dented. I tryed but I wasn't going to cut my frame horns and have to make fender mods. Just not for me, but go for it

Re: front bumper on a 78
That's the one I was thinking of, I also saw another guy who had an 81-87 truck and put a 73-80 front clip on it but left the 81-87 bumper on it.
