so my 74 chevy C20 is my dally driver

10mph is actually normal for a truck like this. A few things that add up--check tire pressure very regularly, use a good, smooth, non-aggressive street tire, do not lift your truck, follow the speed limit, tune your carb, use dual exhaust over single, and of course, follow the speed limit.

Maybe even go less than the speed limit.
But honestly, these things are gigantic refrigerator boxes and they have V8's. They're not going to get good fuel mileage. I found a Honda for 1,000 dollars replaced 140 dollars worth of parts, put 1500 miles on it and got sick of feeling like a "ricer" and sold it for twice I bought it for and pocketed it. Check your local police auctions. But to answer your question you may try to perform a search, there has been 2 or 3 excellent threads on this.

It ain't cheap to ride in style.
The main thing with these trucks is to keep the speed down, since they don't have overdrive. The difference between 55mph and 65mph is HUGE in my truck, but barely noticeable in a new vehicle. Electric fans help too. The stock fans on these trucks are a huge power drain. The one in my '73 doesn't even have a clutch. You may also want to consider synthetic fluids in the drivetrain.
