Cabs
Is there any difference between a C10 cab and a C30 cab? Also, is there any difference between a 2wd and 4x4 cab, other than the removable hump?

Re: Cabs
C30's have embosements on the roof for each clearance light.

Re: Cabs
Other than the high hump, I think they are the same. (Other like the cab lights like already mentioned) But there is a difference in a small block and big block firewall too just an FYI.

Re: Cabs
I believe cab lights were optional and not on every one ton. Diesel what are yhe big block differences? As far as I know there are no differences in the 1/2 ton and one ton. There of course are differences in years.

Re: Cabs
Big Block firewalls have indentations for the valve covers/back of the engine. They basically gave clearance for these things to fit in.

Re: Cabs
I was just looking at pics of my Longhorn, and I can't tell any differences in it's firewall. Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows for sure.

Re: Cabs
No difference for that as far as i know. The big blocks had plenty of room in the correct location.

Re: Cabs
Ok, Thanks Eric. I'd edit my posts, but then no one could see there isn't a difference. So I'll leave it alone.

Re: Cabs
Only 69-72 dual rear C/30s had the special clearance lamp roof panel. The lamps weren't required on single rear trucks because they were rated under 10,000 GVW and were standard width.

Re: Cabs
I bought a cab from a 72 C30 that I am going to put on my 70 C10, and I don't want any surprises when I go to make the swap. Does anybody know approximately how long it would take to pull a cab, transfer the doors, cowl, external heater box/blower motor, and the column, gauge panel/switches, wiring harness? I was thinking I could get it done over a 3-day weekend. Am I nuts?

Re: Cabs
12 people or 12 beers?
It's doable in a 3 day weekend.

Re: Cabs
12 beers!! I have decided to wait until spring. With my luck, I would get the new cab on and then wreck the truck this winter.
