Maximizing Cab Space with non-oem seats

I am looking for some options to maximize the cab space for a larger driver. What seats work the best for giving the driver more room?

Welcome to the board John....I used a set of bucket seats out of a 2004+ Dodge truck on my 69....they fit pretty good...im 6'1 210lbs and felt comfy in there. Maybe let us know how tall and heavy you are so you can get better replies

Re: Maximizing Cab Space with non-oem seats

Was looking at the manual cloth seats in my 05 pilot LX and thought they might be nice in one of these trucks. They're not huge like the ones in my 99 nbs silverado. These might be hard to find since they're only in the LX (i think) and most pilots are EX's it seems.

from the Heart of Arkansas!

Removing the gas tank will allow for a little bit more room. Seats from '88-98 GM trucks have been used for several years, but are getting harder to find in decent condition. '99-up seats are also the same width and it seems that they also have their belts integral with the seat frame. I could be wrong, so don't hold my feet to the fire over it.

I'm 5-11 and a hefty 280-lbs, and I haven't had any problems with my originals seat. I'm replacing it with a '98 Tahoe 2nd-row seat....and leaving the gas tank in-place.

I used to have buckets out of an early Astro van. Comfy and roomy. I put a stock bench back in because I like the look better.

Re: Maximizing Cab Space with non-oem seats

I found that an 80's GM crewcab REAR bench seat is slightly shallower than the front bench. So I'm running a rear bench for the front AND rear seats on my crewcab. I'm 6' tall and find that the couple of inches off the front of the seat made a big difference.

Do you have any pics of your seat? I'm planning on installing a 2002 super duty crew cab rear seat in my Longhorn. It measures like it should be a nice fit, but I haven't sat it in there yet to see for my self.
