My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
My little bike I am restoring to take to shows in the back of my truck needs a brake switch. I cant find one anywhere. It is the kind that works by pulling and not pushing on the switch. I would like to find one as close to what is in these pictures but I am open to anything that would work at this point. Please help! Here is a link to the bike i am talking about

You should be able to fab a different bracket for something like this;

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
Thanks Restrorob I might have to get something like that coming. Going off of your item in similar products on eBay I found this one that might mount up a little easier
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT retodd7711 I will send you a PM Monday, ultimately I would like to find a switch that looks as close to original as possible, hopefully your guy has something.

I wonder if it would be possible to modify one of these head light switches, with out changing its apperance, to be a momentay switch instead of stationary. Any thoughts? It is the closest I have seen apperance wise.

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
I went through some lighting books at NAPA and have had no luck so far on finding an original looking piece. I hate it when you have 90% all original parts to complete a project and then you cant find a handfull of small stuff to finish it off right.

Open the old one up and see if all it needs is the contacts cleaned, You really have nothing to loose by trying right ?

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
I would if I had one. The pictures above are of someone elses bike. Mine did not come originaly with the upgraded light kit, I have been able to piece together all of the other original peices (Head light, head light braket, 6v battery box, and brake light assembly) except for this sqare body switch.

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
you should find pulling stop switch in every motorcycle junkyard. most japs from 70-80s used them for drum brakes on rear wheel. harley also. i have few of them but it will cost to much to send it from croatia. you look ebay under honda vf, yamaha xs, kawasaki kz, suzuki gs. harley are ironheads, shovels, pans....anythinhg that have reardrum brake. if yoou don't find anything PM me i'll send you one via ordinary mail.

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
I wonder if I can take one of those motorcycle switches and put it inside a square body headlight switch to get the look I am after. Or some how modify a headlight switch with a spring so that it would work as a momentary switch. I wish I had some old switches to mess around with to see if it is doable, I hate having to buy something with the chance that it will not work.

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
I belive you can do it. actually they are short. they only seems long because it has loooong plastic bolt that goees through bracket and is used to adjust it...so if you chop of that bolt you have one small switch you can put anywhere...

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
Holy crap Restrorob that is it! I just need to find out if it will work with a 6 volt system, if it does I will be ordering one for sure.
Anyone know if it would work with my 6V setup? I can see how it would not work if it was a 6v and i needed a 12v but vise versa should work...right? Anyone know how many amps a 6V Lantern Battery pulls? as long as it was not too much more than 10 amps I would be ok I think.

Re: My 70's little buddy needs a brake switch...please help!!!
That's rated 10 amps @12 VDC, There's no way you will pull over 10 amps with those 6 VDC lights.....
Go fer it ! I want to see some pics of YOUR Scat Kitty when you git-r-done !!!
