Modifing Brackets for Headers?
I remember reading somewhere on here that if you are going to install headers on a late model truck engine you would have to modify your A/C (and if I remember power steering) brackets because they are bolted onto the stock manifolds. Well for Christmas I might gift my self to a new exhaust system and I was wondering if this is true for (1) and for (2) what are all of the parts I need to buy (like new brackets) and (3) if I were to get new brackets would these be suitable to any type of headers I could buy?
Thanks In Advance Michael

Re: Modifing Brackets for Headers?
just add a spacer. Because the flange is so much thinner on the header. all you need is spacers to make up for that space.

Re: Modifing Brackets for Headers?
As stated above..or header brackets..they are fairly cheap and do the job..

Re: Modifing Brackets for Headers?
Can someone post pictures of the stock bracket with the spacer being used? I put headers on my truck back in june and kept the bracket off, now I want to put it back on there, but I can't seem to get it to line up like I need to with the ac and ps.

Re: Modifing Brackets for Headers?
Well on one we made a bracket from a piece of exhaust hanger and bolted it to the head..
![]() The other was a stock 84 chevy truck no a/c PS pump bracket, just used a spacer.. ![]() on my 88 with serp. setup I used a spacer that came with my headers, a manifold bolt and some nuts. ![]() ![]() ![]()
