67 3/4 ton 4x4 project
Here's the story I was told. The guy I got it from bought it from up in Idaho, because it was mostly rust-free, and was just like his first truck. Hauled it from Idaho to central Texas, and started in on it. Replaced worn 283 with a refreshed 350 4-bolt from a 75 burb. Completely rebuilt the entire drive train, all bearings seals, anything that looked like it needed attention was replaced. New windshield and rear little window, new seals for both. New dual exhaust. Had just put new rims and tires on it. Was going from one ranch gate to the next hauling feed, when a kid came around the gravel rd to fast and side swiped him. Got out the passenger side, saw the gas tank filler neck, and decided he should have blown up and wasn't going to even get in it again. It's been sitting under a cedar tree since this last Easter.
It's pretty bad where it's bad, but it's great where it's not bad. So far, i've removed the seat, the gas tank, got the smashed door open, getting ready to remove the long bed. Plans are to pound out the pillar (which is pretty bad), stick a new door on it, found a era correct factory flatbed to go on it. I need to find d-side rear leaf spring hangers and probably springs, one new rim and tire, then hopefully drive it into the ground. I have a camera, and am not afraid to use it, and get windy at times, as you may can allready tell. Ya'll wish me luck, I'm going to need it. |

Made a deal on the flat-bed, should pick it up next week.
Rounding up parts, slowly. Here's the flat bed. And a pic of my 68 panel wagon. I'm going to rattlecan this one too, but red. Would like to see some photos of red or red primer with white grill parts, if anyone has done that. thanks, ya'll. |

And, can ya'll recomend something to clean the floor mat. there are no tears, rips, holes, or blemishes in it. I'd like to clean it up a little, but not take it out. Just need to find some door sill plates, and the floor is good to go.

Nice progress. It is coming out, I'm sure it won't be an easy job with as bad as it was smashed in.

Re: 67 3/4 ton 4x4 project
Waiting to pick up my new gas tank. Hopefully this weekend. Ran some fuel hose into a gas can, shot a little go juice down the carb, and she fired right off. Runs good, no smoke. Starts now on the first bump of the key.
How do you reduce the idle on a quadrajet? Way too high. this is a 75 350 with a factory quadrajet.....electric choke, which isn't hooked up.

Re: 67 3/4 ton 4x4 project
Made a good parts run today. Found a good 67 door, complete with the 67 vent window latch. Got the stepside taillights for the flatbed, a stepside spare tire mount to put on the flatbed, a chromed hazard knob, the gauge cluster, switches and bezel, good heater control, dome light assembly. Still some good stuff left, I'm the only one that's taken anything from it. Still has a good 67 grill, clean hood, 283 that's not locked up and a 3 on the tree that still moves fairly smooth. Anyone need any of that or a radio delete, pm me and I'll look or take pics next time I go. Also found a good tube bumper for the back with an equalizer built in and is set up to be an air tank. Had brackets on it that bolt right up to my 67. Should work good with the flatbed.
