Engine question
I have heard before that a 305 and a 350 short block are the same, just with different heads. Does anyone know if this is true.
Can I just take my 305 out and rebuild it using 350 heads, intake, exhaust etc....? Edit: I am copying this thread to engine and drivetrain. Probably should have been there to begin with

no, the 305 and 350 shortblocks are not the same. the bore on the 305 is 3.735, whereas the 350 has a 4.000 bore. the cranks are both 3.48" stroke, but the 305 crank is balanced for a lighter rotating assembly, and will not work good in a 350 application.

Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping to get off easy, oh well, back to looking for a block.
