Replaced the neutral safety switch in my brother's 1970 C10, and replaced one reverse light bulb. Now he has working reverse lights! Now we just need to try and figure out why the front right park lamp/blinker doesn't light up with the lights on, and blinks extra slow...

After that, it's off to inspection!

I removed all of the emissions stuff off the truck and made a plate to use as a egr blockoff, and replaced every vacuum line for the motor. Now my truck idles a whole lot better and my cruise control works perfect.

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Went with a friend to pick up a '40 Ford sedan body, we left it where it was. We get there and the floor is completely gone (sitting on dirt for 25 years), as was the driver's door, deck lid, front clip, and oh, suddenly the seller can't find the title. My friend and I laughed on the way home, we were both about due for a Craig's List idiot.

Made further progress on the '50, going to order some parts today from Top Banana, he's a board vendor.

Washed the Heap, S-10, wife's van, and built a pile at the curb for the trash man.

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Took the whole week off.

Finished the exterior grading and paver setting on the pole barn.

Finally put stuff in the barn (barn went up in May):
82 GMC 1/2 ton
84 S10 Blazer I'm parting
39 Allis B that was the last tractor my dad bought (fixing it up some)
79 1/2 ton, my latest. Took a look under the hood, no evap line on the carb, the evap line is connected to the EGR???? Can see som major rewiring and rebuilding. But the body is nice
And my Case 430 tractor.

Started building my waste oile filter system for diesel fuel.

Bought some nice heavy tires for the trailer. Went to put them on and discovered a broken spring. Next week's project I guess.

Lost a front hub on the van, so it went in for that + shocks/stuts. Not too bad for 7 years and 95, 000 miles.

Turned 200, 000 miles on the 87 Diesel!!

painted basement walls, mowed walk pahts on the back 10 for the wife and dog, etc, etc.

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

It has been awhile since I have posted anything on here.........Thursday, I went to my folks place for Turkey Day and spent some time with my oldest nephew and niece who were in town from Ohio. Friday, my office was closed so I hung out in the garage most of the day. My buddy came over and welded in my inner bucket seat mounts for me. Now I can finally make some progress on buttoning up my interior. Saturday, the wife had to pick up a shift ay the hospital so, I had " Daddy Daycare" duty all day. Love my kids but, they are a handful!!!! I don't know how the wife does it and still manages to get things done.Yesterday, I traded a guy from central Virginia my old 350 block and crank for (5) truck rallys

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Finally started working on my c30 85 crew cab, Got all the rear axle spring hangers off of a k20 and installed them on my c30 as I am converting it to 4x4. I also got the truck converted to SRW by using a corp 14 bolt off of the same k20 I got the spring hangers from. How I just need to remove the cab and install the front axle. After that everything should be pretty simple for the swap.

Well I finally got the truck all one color on the body(except for the accent color). Then I cleaned it up and took some pictures. It looks ok for rattle can. I took the mirrors off to paint it and I think I am going to keep them off, I like the look.
Here is what she looks like now:

Hello everyone, Former member 87 Shortwide here... I fell off the wagon for a bit and I've lost my password and no longer have the email acct that my previous name was registered. ANYHOW... some of you old friends will remember and others can go back through old posts under that name to see just how long it takes me to build my junk. lol

I can say I am proud to report that over thanksgiving weekend I didn't work on a darn thing on my truck. Because I got to drive it

Again, if you look back, this one's been a while in the making...

Looks great, Steven. I would say that was definitely worth the wait!

Not much truck related here. I spent Saturday evening cleaning out the garage so I can start swapping out the interior. I am going to try to go pick up the engine and trans tomorrow evening, and start cleaning them up, too.

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Spent an hour trying to get the U joint at the back of the drive shaft off to replace it (cap fell off in the grass and lost some bearings... aurgh)
Finally took it to a shop where they tried using an air hammer, then a more powerfull air hammer, then a torch to melt the plastic 'pins?' and then the air hammer again. Gave it back to me. no progress.
tried starting the truck and something started screeching. yipee

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Got me a set of grey seatbelts out of about a 85. Painted the plastics on them black and got them in my truck. Got a set of stainless ventshades. Also got a pait of rear cab corner speaker brackets and grilles. Scored all of that for $20. Pretty happy with that. All in all a good weekend for the ol' 79.

I am still lacking a few things before it's completely finished, mainly in the interior department. It was getting close to the end of nice weather and I buttoned up the essentials to get it on the road for a little bit of fun before I had to park it again. It'll be all ready by spring though.

I need to sit down and make a thread I guess.

Re: What did you get done 11/28/2010 thanksgiving edition

Finally got motivated and rolled mine into the garage. Cut out the rear post spot welds and got the drivers side bedside off. I have a clean and straight replacement waiting to go on, which I will hopefully get to putting on tomorrow evening. Took advantage of a 20% sale from a vendor and ordered a little over $500 worth of interior parts, as well as GM NOS headlight bezels. This truck is slowly coming together.
