Project 72 Clunker

Well after many years wanting a first gen blazer. I picked up a 72 Jimmy with plenty of work needed to be done to it. I still got to get it home where it will be safe. It is missing all the drivetrain only the axle's are there. Still deciding if i should keep it 4x4,2x4 or get rid of it? What do you guys think? Well heres the pics of the Jimmy
http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/pts/2071605383.html will post more pics if i can ever figure it out Riddla

Re: Project 72 Clunker

IIRC, the trans mount will be different, but the rest of the guts should be plug and play. Check the axle gears too, most of the 350 trucks got 3.07 gears where the 307 V8s got 3.73s, at least up through 71. The 79 I dont know about, but its easy enough to check.

Erik

edit: also the 79's sb400 will have the tall water pump, so either swap it out with a short and use the 72 pulleys/accessories, or swap the 400 in as is and run the tall style everything. I up a 78 305v8 in a 72 2wd pickup years ago, ran all the later style stuff with no problems, just had the alt on the wrong side.
