Grill support

I have a 72 grill shell and I was wondering if grill supports are year specific. I know 67-68, 69-70 and 71-72 but i mean are 71-72 supports the same or did they change them. or am i missing something. the one i have doesn't fit quite right. plus the grill has 2 bolt holes that look like they would bolt to the support, but my support has no place to bolt those two bolts to. here is a pic of my support. It didnt come with the truck, so maybe I have the wrong support.

Hi Mike,

Looks like someone modified that support. Possibly to clear a custom grille insert or something. It appears as though they cut a chunk out of the front/center part and then re-bent the lip along the edge.

You're right about those two holes in the grille ... they are supposed to screw into the support. That's the part that's been cut away on yours.

I did some of investigation, and I'm pretty sure I have one for a GMC grill.
